It is early July, and the project is nearing completion. RGW Construction is in the process of placing an overlay on the existing State Route 65, where the roadway profile is being changed to accommodate potential future widenings. This work requires several nights of grinding and paving on State Route 65, and work is being performed between the hours of 8:30pm and 5:30am. During this time, the roadway will be dusty in the morning, and lane delineation will need to be refreshed nightly. We thank the public for your patience during this construction, and hope to have new, overlayed asphalt concrete complete on the freeway by July 21. At the same time, the final lift of asphalt concrete will be placed on the remaining ramps, so that the project can move into it's final phase. Currently the project is scheduled to be completed in mid-September.
Once the current paving operations are complete, traffic on Sunset Boulevard and State Route 65 will be placed into it's final temporary configuration, so that the final items of contract work may be completed. On the freeway, this will involve the final removal of the temporary aphalt in the median, as well as Sunset Boulevard between the two sections of freeway. On Sunset Boulevard, the main item of work will be median landscaping, followed by the placement of the final lift of asphalt concrete and the placement of final striping and markers.
